Message from the Chief Superintendent
Welcome to the Winnipeg School Division.
This website serves as an important means of sharing information with parents/guardians and the broader community on the many exciting and innovative programs and services developed and provided for students from nursery to adult education. Not only does every school provide a strong basic educational program as defined by Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth, but also unique offerings such as language programs, gifted and talented programs, alternative education programs, off campus programs and vocational education. There are two Aboriginal education schools. The Division also provides extraordinary support services for students with special education needs.
As the largest school division in the province of Manitoba, with over 33,000 students and the fifth largest employer in Manitoba, there are tremendous opportunities for growth and development amongst both our students and our staff.
Through the website, parents can find information about the various learning opportunities available in specific neighbourhoods, general information about the 77 schools in the Division, information on Division policies and procedures, as well as suggestions as to how to support their children’s education. Staff can access the website to obtain information on supports available to them through the professional support personnel.
While the website provides one source of information for parents, parents/guardians should not hesitate to contact their child’s teacher or school office to ask any specific questions about their son or daughter’s educational program.
