Welcome to Library Support Services!

Library Support Services provides:

• consultant and cataloguing services to WSD school libraries and staff,
• a resource-rich lending library of materials for classrooms and teachers across the division,
• select information resources on timely topics for parents and guardians, and
• copies of WSD Student Records previous to June 1993.

Parent Resources

Parents can find useful information on many current topics in LSS’s comprehensive Pathfinders.  Pathfinders are integrated resource lists, which contain great books, videos, journal articles, and websites. The extensive resource links are kept as current as possible.  

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their child’s own school library when assisting with projects.  The information-rich environment of school libraries provides an extraordinary setting where school library personnel enter a learning partnership and travel together on a journey of discovery and ultimate student success.

Library Resource Centre

The  Library Resource Centre located at Prince Charles ERC, 1075 Wellington Avenue contains the Division’s central professional print collection, access to online educational resources, and a comprehensive media collection.  These resources are used by teachers to support student learning.  The LRC includes meeting areas that accommodate professional development activities not only for school libraries but across the various curricula of our schools.

Union Catalogue

LSS supports a global and fully automated Union Catalogue.  The Union Catalogue includes the entire print and multimedia resources of the Winnipeg School Division.  Parents, students and teachers are encouraged to search the catalogue when seeking information for their inquiry-based learning.  Click on an online video tutorial for an explanation of how to use the catalogue.  The Union Catalogue is the gateway to the Division’s diverse and authentic resource base available for all to learn.

Student Records

Student records are available on microfilm for students who attended Winnipeg School Division schools up to June 1993.  To request a record, please click on the Student Records page.  Students attending schools after that time can contact their schools directly.
