Migrating to the New Email Service There are two sections following:1. Preparatory Steps prior to the cut-over to the new service. These should be followed prior to the cut-over date of Apr 24th2. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding the migrationPreparatory Steps for the cut-over to the new service1) It is recommended that, prior to the cut-over date, emails be reviewed and old, unwanted emails removed. Also, emails requiring a long retention should be moved to appropriate school or department file folders. 2) Emails cannot be converted automatically from your current email client or from WSD Web Messaging. Any emails in the mailboxes of your current email client or on the WSD mail server will remain there unless you take steps to move them. All staff will have two weeks (Apr 13th to Apr 24th) before the cut-over date to forward their important emails to a Temporary file on the new Email Server. The “Forward To” email address will be your emailname@tempmsg.org (eg, dedmond@tempmsg.org). This is a temporary arrangement only and is not to be used after the cut-over date. 3) If you are forwarding your WSD email account to another email account (e.g. to your home email account), you must reset the forward on Apr 27th. The Forward cannot be converted. 4) The other preparatory steps you must take to migrate to the new service differ depending on the email client or service you are currently using. FAQ about the migration
1. What will happen to my e-mail user name and password Staff will retain their current email account and password. It is recommended that email passwords are not changed from Apr 6th until Apr 24th as the accounts must be imported to the new server. New email accounts will not be set up during this time.
2. What will happen to my current Address Books or Calendars Current Outlook 2003 or 2007 users retain their email client’s address book and personal calendar. An option may or may not exist for other email clients to import address books as it is dependent on the product and its version. See the preparatory steps section for your current email client or web messaging and discuss with your school or district computer technician. WSD Web messaging users – there is no facility to import address books from Web Messaging. If there is no facility to import your address book, please print a copy so that you can re-establish it in the new service after the cut-over date.
3. How will I access my emails in my “Old” mailboxes after the cut-over See the preparatory steps section for your current email client or web messaging. 4. How will I access Outlook Web Access The Staff Email link at the top of the www.wsd1.org home page will take you to the login page for Outlook Web Access, effective Apr 27th. The URL for the new Outlook Web Access will be https://email.wsd1.org, effective Apr27th.
5. What will happen to the Division's Email Address Book WSD Email Address Book link on WSD@work home page will be changed to provide instructions for Outlook’s Global Address Book function allowing you to find a staff member’s email account or a distribution list name.
