Elementary Counselling
A number of schools in the Division have implemented an elementary counselling
program. Elementary school counsellors are involved in four general kinds of counselling situations: developmental, preventative, facilitative
and crisis counselling.
The counsellors work collaboratively with parents, school staff and community resource
personnel in the sharing of information and expertise for identifying and responding to students
in need of special help or services, and provides direction and support to special interest
programs and services as this relates to the needs of the student population.
