School Therapy Services
The purpose of School Therapy Services is to provide physiotherapy and occupational
therapy support services in the school setting for handicapped students. The goal is to enhance the learning potential for the handicapped student and to facilitate his/her adaptation to the education environment.
Students eligible for physiotherapy/occupational therapy services are those who are multihandicapped, or physically disabled between the ages of five to 21 years.
Referral forms may be completed by teachers, physicians, public health nurses, or other
health/education professionals. Written parental consent is obtained by School Therapy Services and must be received before assessment or treatment
can be initiated. The Division provides funding for 7.15therapists, a .8 time program director and a .7 time secretary.
