Pupil Services

Introduction

Based on the philosophy that children are unique individuals, counselling programs and pupil services are established to foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical well-being of children. Counsellors, working cooperatively with other school personnel, respond to:

  • the developmental needs of children;

  • the factors which adversely affect or interfere with a child's personal learning and development;

  • the major societal problems which threaten a child's well-being and adjustment.

The school-based counsellor is an integral member of the educational team, in that the counsellor assumes the roles of a skilled helper, a caring listener, a consultant, a referral agent, and, most importantly, an advocate for the child.

Olga Wyshnowsky, Pupil Services Consultant 788-0203, ext. 117
