Special Health Care in Schools

 

Introduction

Special health care in schools supports students with special health care needs in the educational setting.

 

Kerry Heather
Nurse Educator responsible for:

  • support to teachers, Resource Teachers, Special Education Resource Teachers and school administrators in planning to meet the needs of students with special health care needs, including the acquisition of equipment and supplies
  • working with students and their families, school staff, and relevant members of the health care team to develop and maintain written, individualized health care plans for students with special health care needs
  • training and monitoring of staff who support students to accomplish necessary health care interventions
  • collaboration with other health care professionals and clinicians supporting students with special health care needs in the school setting
