The Winnipeg School Division provides specialist teachers to support the instructional staff both in programs and professional development.

 

The Professional Support Services personnel:

  • organize, coordinate and monitor Divisional programs;

  • assess system needs related to programs within the specific area assigned and make recommendations to the superintendent's department;

  • provide support to the principals and the instructional staff for development and improvement of instructional programs;

  • organize school-based inservice sessions;

  • review educational materials and programs relevant to the specific area assigned;

  • act as a liaison with outside groups including Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth;

  • facilitate communication and articulation between schools;

  • assist the human resource department in the screening and selection on instructional staff in their area of expertise.
